Best Maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

After months of waiting and rumours flying around everywhere, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was finally released in October 2019. The reboot of the Modern Warfare franchise offers the same incredible gameplay matched with a more realistic presentation including weapon kickbacks and new movement mechanics. The game even removed the traditional season pass, meaning all players will have access to new maps released throughout the game’s lifecycle.

With any new Call of Duty title, everyone is excited to get back into the online warfare to fight for supremacy once more. As ever, Infinity Ward have added some superb locales with which to fight in. So which are the best playgrounds to compete in some modern warfare? Here are the best maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

1. Piccadilly

Let’s start close to home. Piccadilly is one of the smallest multiplayer maps in the game and features in the second mission of the single-player campaign. The map is a shopping district and features various buildings of numerous stories and windows that have been beautifully designed. Dotted around the map are double-decker buses that are synonymous with the London. Sadly, you can’t enter those buses but they are great for cover against fire from those camping in buildings.

It’s a darker map on the list without a day or night version like many maps in the game. With an awesome setting and incredible detail, Piccadilly is one of the best maps in the game.

2. Hackney Yard

Presented in the original beta of the game, Hackney Yard is a classic three-lane map that CoD players are used to. This relates to the fact that players will use three distinct lanes to typically use to navigate the map. There are enemies everywhere so be on your guard!

Many Call of Duty players consider this to be their favourite map of the game so far, due to the smaller size compared to other maps in the game. With its traditional design and excellent cover and building placement, it’s usually the go-to map in any online battle.

3. Aniyah Palace

This map feels more like a Battlefield map than a Call of Duty one, but it’s definitely one of the best. This 10v10 map is centred around a war-torn palace with a great space to get as many kills as possible to take the victory for your team. It’s quite an incredible place, but try not to get too distracted by the setting.

4. Grazna Raid

Another memorable map from the pre-release beta, the Grazna Raid has a unique layout that captured the attention of gamers. The action usually takes place in the traditional three lanes, however, you’ll find most players in the middle, battling for online supremacy. There are multiple headshot angles for players to spot, allowing for many quick kills. There are even various corridors for close combat action, if the game mode allows it.

5. Gun Runner

Another favourite of the MW beta, Gun Runner is set in an old oil mining complex which has been turned into a battlefield. The map contains a great mix of buildings for close-range and long-distance fights. The railyard and forest areas are great spaces for outdoor battles.

Gun Runner is also another map that uses the popular three-lane feature that CoD fans are most accustomed to.

If you want a great Domination of Headquarters game, then Gun Runner is your best choice. While it’s a tight-knit map, it has the best opportunities for some awesome online FPS action.
